Ski Champ is Sega AM1's downhill skiing game for the Sega Model 3 board, released in Japan in January 1998 after a showing at Sega's private show the month before. It follows Sega Ski Super G, and like that game it was built around its cabinet: you stood on a ski platform and leaned to carve, with a pole in each hand to push off.

How to Play Ski Champ
Lean forward, back, left and right with the movement keys - that is the ski platform - and push with the left and right pole keys. Three more keys switch between the far and near chase cameras and the first-person view. The table shows the starting keys and Controller Mapping changes them.
Four Skiers
Pick from four named racers, each with the game's own one-line description: Monique, number one for top speed; Kazuma, well balanced; Brenda, easy to manoeuvre and the one for beginners; and Mathias, great with quick steps.
Down the Mountain
The run is split into areas. Area 1 starts on the Mountaintop; Area 2 drops through a Large forest and the Snowy wastelands; Area 3 crosses a Gigantic glacier and a Snow canyon.
The Cabinet
Ski Champ was a one-player machine. Its inputs were a platform read on two axes, so every lean was a turn or a tuck, two poles, and three view buttons - the same set the Player maps for you here. Sega ended service for the machines on March 31, 2017.
