From 1996 to the end of the decade, Sega's biggest arcade cabinets ran on one board: the Model 3. This shelf collects them - Virtua Fighter 3 and Fighting Vipers 2, Daytona USA 2 and Scud Race Plus, Sega Rally 2, Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, The Ocean Hunter and more - and every one plays on your PC in the free RetroPlayers.Club Player.

Virtua Fighter 3 opened the Model 3 era in 1996, and its sloping rooftops, flights of steps and fighters in flowing clothes showed what the new board could draw. Sega revised the hardware three times - the first boards ran their main processor at 66 MHz, the last at 166 MHz - and kept building games for it until 1999, when Emergency Call Ambulance, Spikeout: Final Edition and Virtua Striker 2 Ver. '99.1 arrived.
Most Model 3 cabinets had a steering wheel: Daytona USA 2 in its Battle on the Edge and Power Edition forms, Scud Race Plus, Sega Rally 2, Le Mans 24, Dirt Devils, Harley-Davidson & L.A. Riders and Emergency Call Ambulance. Virtua Fighter 3, Virtua Fighter 3tb and Fighting Vipers 2 are the fighters; The Lost World, The Ocean Hunter and L.A. Machineguns hand you a gun. Then come the cabinets only Sega would build - a fishing rod for Sega Bass Fishing, skis and poles for Ski Champ, a pump-handle rail cart for Magical Truck Adventure, twin sticks for Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram and an X-wing yoke for Star Wars Trilogy Arcade.
One arcade control panel covers every game: a stick, two rows of three buttons, two side buttons, Start and Coin. Each game page names what every control does in that game - Punch, Kick, Guard and Escape in Virtua Fighter 3, Accelerate, Brake and gear shifts in Daytona USA 2, Fire in The Ocean Hunter - and Controller Mapping moves any of them to the keys or USB pad you like. The gun games also aim with your mouse.
